A Special Message from Stephen
Dear Brea Community,
I have been married to my wife, Kari Windes for nearly 24 years. In that time, we have raised three intelligent, unique, and at times difficult and free-thinking individuals. Additionally, our careers have always touched on building and maintaining local communities, often through the direct education of children, but also through finding ways to bolster and foster positive human interaction—which is and always has been the foundation of successful communities. This has not always been easy work, but it is satisfying because it is purposeful. It impacts lives.
Kari has always been strong minded. She strives for what she wants and is willing to work hard to ensure she achieves her goals. She is a lifelong learner, has constantly questioned why, and is always searching for new ways to do things. It has made her a good mother, a strong marriage partner, and a tremendously capable worker. As her husband, I am proud of her accomplishments. I am also proud to support her efforts to be elected as a representative of the people of Brea.
Kari and I both grew up in Brea. We went to school here, met here, and married here. Our children have always called this community their home. As a Brea family, we have always struggled together, enjoyed successes together, and faced life’s challenges together. We considered ourselves lucky to live here during the changes the pandemic wrought on our lives, and we consider ourselves lucky to have a home here and be a part of this community.
If the people of the Brea community decide that Kari deserves to represent you, I can tell you honestly that she is prepared to do that work and be your representative. She is willing to listen. She is willing to work hard. She is willing to do what needs to be done. She is willing to offer her best to make Brea a strong community. In an age where some elected officials often serve financial and personal interests or their ego, I can say in all honesty, that is not my wife. She is a member of your community, and she is no different than the other strong women who live here. She wants to build a stronger and better Brea. I am proud that she has decided to stand up for what she believes in. She deserves your vote and your support.
